Clothesline House Warming Invitations

Gather a package of mini clothespins, rope or string, markers, scissors, thick cardboard paper, clear glue, multicolored card stock to make house warming invitations. Mini clothespins are usually plastic and come in a variety of colors. They are not always easy to find but craft stores and party outlets that sell baby shower supplies are the best places to search for these invitation materials. Select cardboard paper with a solid color and rope that has some level of thickness to prevent breaking. This material can be white or colored to match any special theme that you may have for the House Warming party.

Instructions:
Using scissors, trim the cardboard paper into 4x6 inch squares. There is no set number of squares to make, as they should match the amount of guests invited to your House Warming party. The cardboard paper can also be trimmed to 6x9 inch squares if you need more room to work and design the clothesline. Larger envelopes will be required if you opt for the 6x9 inch size House Warming invitations. Cut the multicolored card stock into shapes that resemble clothing.

Each sheet of card stock should be enough to make between four and five different items of clothing. There is no specific number of clothing items to make but there should be a variety to choose from when you finish cutting them out. Examples of clothing shapes to cut out include T-Shirts, overalls, jackets, shorts, a pair of pants, skirts, Swimsuits, panties, bras and socks. It may take up to two hours or more to cut out a few dozen clothing shapes. Once you finish, lay these shapes out on each 4x5 or 6x9 cardboard paper square.

Write down all of the party information on a piece of notebook paper to use as a reference. Using one invitation at a time, write your party information on the clothing cutouts, spreading it across several shapes. A t-shirt can be used to display the party address while you add RSVP information to one pair of shorts, for example. As another option, your house warming party information can be printed out on a computer, trimmed into small sheets of paper and glued onto the clothing shapes. Create at least one clothing shape that has a welcome greeting to explain that guests are invited to a house warming party.

Cut a modest section of rope to be placed on each house warming party invitation to make a clothesline. Place a small amount of glue on the right and left sides of your cardboard squares. Attach one side of the rope to each end of the cardboard squares, combining them with the glue drops. Each string of rope should be a little loose in and near the middle section. Once the rope dries on each housewarming party invitation, attach your clothing shapes to the clothesline using the mini clothespins. These clothes will then hang from the clothespins in a horizontal fashion across the cardboard squares.

Mail your clothesline housewarming party invitations inside envelopes that are large enough to accommodate the clothespins without being damaged. Add extra glue to the clothespins and clothing shapes if you want to prevent them from falling off when placed inside an envelope.
