"Cloverfield" the Video Game?

"Cloverfield" the Video Game? - The much anticipate movie "Cloverfield" just hit theatres and there is no a rumor circulating that a video game based on the movie may be close to coming out.

While the movie has not faired so well with reviewers, "Cloverfield" has done well in the box office and the makers of the movie might look to parlay that success into a video game. This has worked well in the past for some movies to make money, but overall most people feel that video games made for movies are not very good at all.

The video games for movies such as Pirates of the Caribbean, Lord of the Rings and all the way back to ET (the first of the terrible video games based on movies) have all dissapointed moviegoers and gamers alike. The only really good game beased on a movie in recent memory would be Goldeneye for the Nintendo 64. The makers of this game, based on the James Bond movie of the same name, did not seem to cut any corners and they made a classic game and one that many think is one of the best of all time.

The trouble with video games made for hit movies is that little attention is really paid to them. These games are merely made to cash in on the movie's success and they ae not meant to build an original fanbase as there should already be one from the movie. These games are thrown together very fast and they are only made to make a profit, not to give any real gaming satisfaction.

If there is indeed a game made for the movie "Cloverfield" than it will probably be more like the games that flop instead of the few that were good. With the reviews the movie is getting and the fact that not much has been heard about this game it seems like it is something that would be thrown together at the last minute. Remember, there was no inclination that "Cloverfield" would be a hit until a few months ago and I doubt they would make game based on a non-hit movie. This means that they probably didn't start working on the game until a few months ago and that would probably result in a game that lacked detail and fun.

I hope that no game comes out for "Cloverfield," but at the very least I hope that if they do put out a game it is one of quality and not one looking for quantity of money over all else.
