These are some quick-and-easy Halloween costume ideas for your toddlers and younger children that will save you time, money and headaches!

Clown Costume

For the clown costume you will need the following items:

1 sleeper, (either a snap-up sleeper or a blanket sleeper-your child probably has one in their pj drawer already!) A solid color one would work best.

3-4 different colors of felt squares (can be purchased at any sewing or craft store)

some hook and loop dots with sticky on the back (can be purchased at any sewing or craft area in a store)

a stocking cap or any other cap

optional items are: some colored pom pons from any craft store and some clown make up from any Halloween Make up kit or even some colored hairspray

and use your imagination! Other helpful items would include a permanent marker, and some tagboard or cardboard for a circle pattern to make dots,

compass, or two or three different items such as a cup or other items to trace a circle around. A few med size safety pins may be useful as well.

Take the sleeper and lay flat on a table or the floor and get ready for some fun for you and your little one! Find a plastic cup or something that is a circle that you can trace around, if you like you can use a compass and some card board and make a few different size circles to trace onto the felt and cut around. (a permanent marker might come in handy here too to trace around the cardboard circles onto the felt) Trace around the cardboard patterns you made onto the felt. Carefully cut around the felt circles and set aside. The next step is to lay out each dot to an approximate spot on the sleeper that you find appealing and put a hook side of the hook and loop dot on the felt circles you have cut out you do not probably have to put the loop side on the sleeper because it may stick to the sleeper without the loop end. If you need to though, stick the loop side of the dots where you wish to place the felt circles onto the sleeper. Make sure you put some of the circles on the back and legs of the sleeper to decorate like a clown suit. Next you need to put a pom pon on the top of each of the sleeper feet, if you chose to use pom pons for your costume fasten on with a safety pin or sew on if you like. and presto you have a clown suit. The next step is to decorate the stocking cap or other cap you chose to use to match the sleeper. Now on Halloween you just use the clown make up if you chose to to decorate your child's face like a clown or just use some other make up (some rouge or other pink or red makeup to make cheeks on your child). Presto! You have a clown.

Kitty Costume

For the kitty costume you will need the following items:

1 black or brown or white or gray sweat suit.
1 fur hat
1 robe tie or other tie or some other fabric to make a "tail" to match your sweat suit
1-2 pieces of felt of a contrasting color to that of sweat suit
1 make up kit with same color as your sweat suit and some black, white and pink and brown makeup.
A few safety pins or a glue gun

The first step for this costume is to make the ears. cut two matching triangles out of felt to match your costume, if you want you can add some smaller pink felt triangles to the insides of the ears as well. Attach the felt triangles to the fur hat (you can use some small safety pins for this or you can use a cool melt glue gun to do this as well, but make sure that it is an old hat you do not want to use again if you put the ears on with a glue gun. Next, attach the tail to the back of the pants where a tail would go you can also use a safety pin to do this. You could also attach the tail to the back of the shirt if you are worried about the pin coming open when sitting. Your costume is now done. On Halloween, paint your child's face the same or a different color and paint on a nose and whiskers, and presto! You have a kitty.
