Club La Vela in Panama City Beach, Florida: The Largest Nightclub in the USA

When you come to Panama City Beach, Florida you must check out Club La Vela. It's in the handbook, The Must Do's of a Florida Vacation. You can't miss it. Just take the Thomas Drive exit off the newly expanded Hathaway Bridge. They aren't just whistling Dixie when they say it's the largest nightclub in the USA. It's directly on the beach, the beautiful white sandy beach, overlooking the emerald green water. There is also a pool, beach side, for those who rather not swim in the Gulf. All you Great White fans, all the original members reunited in January 2007 for their 25th Anniversary Tour. They will be performing live on stage with opening act Jani Lane, lead singer of 80's band, Warrant.

On Saturday nights, Club La Vela's slogan is no one goes home alone. It's sponsored by Trojan and Grey Goose, so you get the drift. When you enter the door, you are asked your status. If single and available, you are given a green sticker. If taken, a red sticker. If you are undecided, in-between, a yellow sticker. Yes, it's true most men are color blind. This event is usually hosted by a former Penthouse Pet, so as to loosen the crowd up, as if they needed more lubrication.

Every Friday night is Ladies Night. Free cover and drinks until midnight for all the ladies.

Wednesday night is Bar Wars. Free entry and drink specials for the VIP card holders.

Teen Bash, a teen only party is every Tuesday night. They have the whole club except the VIP lounge to themselves. No alcohol or smoking allowed.

Men of Steel, Male Revue is every 3rd Friday. Ladies-No cover 7-12. Free Drinks-9-12.

Rockstar Wannabe's is every Thursday. $2 Jager shots 11pm-1am to help get your warble on. Karaoke with Uncle Daddy, a full live band that will lend back up vocals. You never know when a talent scout could be vacationing here!

When you get inside and get your drink on, you have several choices of where you want to see and be seen from. The ThunderDome is a large multi-story theme room. A club in a club. The resident "hitman" DJ spins tunes of the hottest Top 40, Hip Hop and Dance on a 75,000 watt system. You can hit the stainless-steel dance floor and move to the light show as you are blown away by the sound system. Or you can chill on the balconies or inside one of the elevated cages.

If Techno music is your sway, The Underground, Night Gallery or Galaxy Rooms are for you. They are completely dark except for the glo-sticks. Progressive House, Hard House, Trance and Jungle being played. Gothic art portrayed on the walls.

The Karma Lounge serves a full Sake menu along with premium signature Club La Vela drinks. There is an oriental decor with private, plush seating and a non- smoking room.

The Pussy Kat Lounge is for the Super VIP. Plush surroundings, animal print furniture, erotic wall art, Persian rugs, incensed candles. A cool place to take that special someone. There is usually a former Playmate or two on hand. If you go with a group of friends or to meet someone new, you won't come away with nothing but good things to say. Unless, you don't remember, and that's a good sign of a night well spent. You'll always have your friend's to remind you!
