Club Penguin Online Game Review

Sebastian Thomas
Club Penguin is a virtual world inhabited by a sea of various colored penguins playing in the snow. It was established in 2005 and the growing virtual world was purchased by Disney in 2007. It has become a very popular game that parents have adopted freely to let their kids have fun online.

Club Penguin continues to thrive as a loyal fan base. It also has nice features like chat areas, games and special activities to keep the kids going and going. Penguins can throw snowballs at each other and much of the game play activity involves buying furniture for their igloos and colorful and exciting clothes to accommodate what you need in this new and fun filled virtual world of intrigue. Friends can talk to each other and keep track of where they are.

Kids can feel comfortable about their online play while making new friends. The only thing I have about Club Penguin is that many of the popular features are for members only. Parents should note that there have been complaints that the open chat to be inappropriate at times.

So, I wouldn't recommend open chat for young kids. If you do let them make sure they are supervise due to some players displaying inappropriate behavior. This is what I have witnessed during my son's online game play. Club Penguin is geared for ages 6-14 and is free for basic registration. Memberships start at $5.95 a month. That's not too expensive for a monthly cost.

The site is closely moderated by real live human beings 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. Infractions of the rules are taken seriously and dealt with according to Club Penguins game play policy. For example, users can get banned for 24 hours if they swear or write inappropriate text or remarks during actual game play. Now that's what I call service!

The customer service responses are usually swift, courteous and personal. So you shouldn't have a problem with this game to be unsafe for your kids during game play but you can never avoid certain players that temporarily get away with inappropriate behavior. This can also be true to any online game though.

I highly recommend Club Penguin as a safe site for kids as my child simply loves it! For more information, you can visit their site at: http://www.clubpenguin.com/. So enjoy the time your kids have on this game for there is much to do in this fantastic virtual world of colors and fun!
