After arriving in Ho Chi Minh teams had to first grab a clue from a flock of dragon puppets swirling around in the water. It was amusing to see teams splash and try to lure the puppets to them, as if they had a brain. The Globe Trotters, not sure which is which, got there first and were pretty much first throughout the entire leg of the race. We learned that Big Easy's father passed away a few days before the race started and that they were running it for him. It was nice to finally not hear the Globe Trotter music as they popped onto the screen, seems producers are finally forcing on THEM and not their job.
Most of the teams had little difficulty getting the clue from the dragons, but being that the clue was a postage stamp with the image of the post office on it things got a little tricky. Well, mostly for Lance and Keri who didn't realize they had to open a bullet, look at the stamp and go there. Once at the post office the next clue led teams to their first Detour of the season. It was either trekking a ceramic animal through the busy streets or searching for letters on a rooftop. Only Marcy and Ron would take the letters and it would also be their downfall. They had trouble getting the orientation of the one letter correctly, and then Marci was crazy and kept looking for the word rather than asking for him. It was kind of obvious they were going soon as Marcy's back story was told as her father was shot down in Vietnam. It traveled throughout the episode and became a showcase of the bickering couple.
Back at the other Detour two teams had trouble moving the animals. The poker ladies first had a defective dolly and also some trouble on the move. Only Tiffany was pushing which seems to be a common trait as all Maria did this episode was carry the balloons. Zev and Justin also had some issues as their giraffe fell off the dolly and broke. Luckily Zev read the clue and realized all pieces had to come with that. After that they had little trouble. Of course Lance and Keri had issues, finding the balloon lady that is. Um.... I'd assume she's the one holding all the balloons? Maybe it just isn't that obvious to them.
The next task for all teams was to then complete the Road Block. Here they had to rip apart two VCRs, helping the country RECYCLE! How fun... yeah. It wasn't that exciting to watch them rip apart old electronics and it was something Lance was actually good at. Considering his super human powers allowed him to rip the VCRs apart without any power tools. Get it? Sarcasm. The teams ended up placing in the order they left, mostly with the Globe Trotters and Meghan/Cheyne competing in a foot race. Of course the GT's got to Phil first, but Meghan wasn't too far behind. They did it for Big Easy's father... let's just hope THAT story line doesn't haunt them the entire season! The rest piled in with Ron and Marcy coming in last. They were just starting to bicker too, at least Marcy was. Apparently she doesn't realize she's super hyper, and blames Ron for being just that. He wasn't hyper at ALL, I mean he didn't even talk so we won't miss much with those two gone.
