Clyde's Restaurant is a local favorite for sure. In fact, it's been a local favorite since the 1940s! Not many restaurants can make such a big claim. Just thinking of all the history that had happened in Clyde's Restaurant was exciting. I can just imagine people sitting in the restaurant watching the news of the assassination of Kennedy, the death of Elvis and so much more.
The restaurant looks as if it hasn't changed a bit over the years. The furniture and even the flooring appear to be original, which makes Clyde's even more enjoyable. Of course, the food is what makes the restaurant a real winner.
Clyde's Restaurant in Waynesville, North Carolina is all about the down home food. You'll find roast beef, fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, meat loaf, and other goodies on the menu. When my boyfriend and I ate there, we had the roast beef and it was absolutely wonderful. It was tender and smothered in delicious gravy. The food honestly tastes like something your mother or grandmother would have prepared.
The wait staff at Clyde's Restaurant is also extremely friendly. They treat you more like family than a customer and are very knowledgeable of the menu. Speaking of family, Clyde's has been in the same family since it opened in the 1940s.
Best of all, the prices at Clyde's Restaurant in Waynesville, North Carolina are incredibly affordable. A couple could easily eat at Clyde's for less than $20. The total may be a bit more if you get desserts, but the portions are so large that you may find it hard to find room for a dessert.
All and all, I would have to give Clyde's Restaurant in Waynesville, North Carolina 5 out of 5 stars. The food is amazing, the atmosphere is laid back, and the wait staff is extremely friendly. I can definitely see why the home folks eat at Clyde's. If I lived in Waynesville, I would certainly eat there at least once a week. I highly recommend trying Clyde's Restaurant the next time you visit Waynesville, North Carolina. Trust me. You won't regret it.
