Coach Caldwell Should Be Charged with Robbery

Jacob Horn
I would love to see the Indianapolis Police Department charge Jim Caldwell with robbery. Jim Caldwell, coach of the Indianapolis Colts, robbed a whole city, an entire team of players, and hundreds of thousands of fans of a dream season. Somebody please explain to me why in the world anybody in their right mind would not go full throttle after an undefeated season? Yeah, a Super Bowl is cool but we have had a Super Bowl winner every year since 1967. In that same time period there has only been one undefeated season. Most of us cannot recall, without some serious thinking, who won the Super Bowl in 2005, 1995, 1985, or 1975. Every single one of us can recall in a few seconds the only undefeated team in NFL history and the only team that made it to 18-0 before falling in the Super Bowl. I just don't understand how Coach Caldwell could not understand the significance of this moment. I would say that most of his players still do not understand. The fans definitely do not understand. Say what you want about Bill Belichick but at least he recognized that his team was in a unique position and he gave his players the chance to finish it up. It is doubtful that the Colts will ever be in this position again and thanks to Coach Caldwell the Colts players will be left to wonder for the rest of their life if they could have went undefeated. If the Colts did go undefeated they would have been considered by many to be the greatest NFL team of all time. They would have definitely been the only NFL team to ever go 19-0. Instead, if they do indeed win the Super Bowl their name will be added to a long list of teams with that distinction. Too bad because they could have started their own list and probably been the only team on that list for decades, if not centuries, to come.
