University of Kentucky, Men's Basketball Coach, John Calipari said on Tuesday that he is scaling back on practices because players are picking things up pretty fast. He said the his team looks "very good" this year so far. He continues saying "This is not going to be easy, because we're so young again, but I'm going to say this to you: I like my team. I really like my team."
The Kentucky Wildcat's coach bragged about the leadership roles that senior guard Darius Miller and sophomore forward Terrance Jones have taken for the team. "Darius has never been better. Never," he said. "If there's a better player (than Jones) in the country, I've got to see him."
After a reporter commented on how much optimism Calipari was showing, after coaching the team he had in 09-10, which included John Wall, Demarcus Cousins, Eric Bledsoe and Patrick Patterson, Calipari's response was "I know this: I'm not coaching any effort. I'm not coaching intensity, enthusiasm. Occasionally I have to stop them for tough shots - occasionally. I haven't said boo to Darius. I haven't said boo to Terrence. The young kids I'll get on occasionally, but they're giving everything they have. What more can you ask?"
The team will officially welcome the new season on November 11 against Marist.
