Coach Gundy Gets Real with the Media

It's All Good..It's All Gundy!

Even after a few days of cooling off and a few thousand deep breaths, Oklahomans are still talking about Coach Gundy's Saturday after game conference when he made his feelings known about a post that occurred in the Daily Oklahoman regarding one of his younger players backup quarterback Bobby Reid .

Whether you're a Oklahoma Sooners fan or an Oklahoma State fan (believe me when I tell you this, it is a rarity that anyone in Oklahoma is both), one thing is for sure; Gundy is passionate about protecting the reputation if his players!

As I sat there listening on our local television station and listening to Gundy defend Oklahoma State's backup quarterback Bobby Reid , my heart welled up with pride. I was proud to be a Oklahoma State cowboys fan that day, and I had a darn good reason to be! Bobby Reid is young, and didn't deserve the ridicule posted about him over the weekend. So what if he was caught laughing on the sidelines after a terrible game loss? Good sportsmanship is a virtue nowadays isn't it? How would he have been perceived if he took his helmet off and threw it towards the crowd in a rage or had the typical attitude I see from other college football players? You know, the attitude that screams, "Since we can't win, injure whoever you get your hands on." I have seen this disgusting attitude against my Alma Mater Penn state a few weeks ago against a team that will remain nameless.

I am proud of our coach and what he stands for. No, I am not trying to say he is above doing wrong, and no, I am not saying that he is perfect. What I am saying is that any coach that protects his players whether off the camera or behind locker room doors and steps up to be a man despite what anyone else says or does is a man of character and honor in my book!

I do hope that coach Gundy and all the Cowboys know how much they are admired and I hope that Gundy knows that there are some journalists out there that have his back! Myself included!

GO POKES!!
