Coaches! 101 High School Game Changers

Well this week of football in Hudson County NJ showed some promising games. The first game concluded with North Bergen and Ferris. In the North Bergen and Ferris game: the bulldogs were having trouble moving the ball on a tough bruins defense. It looked like the game was over after a bulldog score in the middle of the third quarter. North Bergen got fired up and went on an 85-yard drive. They gave the ball to Bernardo Castano who in turn broke for ten yards. Then they gave the ball to Tevin Cunningham who broke for 35 yards and the rally started. Those runs lead to a 6-play North Bergen drive that ended with a touchdown. This was not it for the Bruins because their defense stuffs the bulldogs and then went on one more game wining drive to end the game. These drives helped North Bergen gain a 12-10 lead after being down 0-10 with one minute left in the 3 quarter.

The Hoboken-Hudson Catholic game lived up to all the hype of power football. There were two game changing plays in this game. Hudson Catholic punter muffed the punt and Hoboken recovered it on the five-yard line. Then two plays later Hoboken calls a fullback trap and Cadeem Stevenson runs it in for the score. He carried the Hudson Catholic lineman and the Hoboken offensive lineman on his back five yards into the endzone. They struggled on offense and defense for about a quarter and a half. Then Hudson Catholic on their 25-yard line started a drive that broke the tide. After their top QB went down, Hudson Catholic placed this running QB in the game, C. Eatman became that running QB whom sparked a 75-yard game winning drive. (Hoboken, 6-Hudson Catholic, 7) This was an up hill battle of to powers in the county battling for the likes of Preps attention.
