Cobb County Families Should Look to January for Disney Vacations

Many Families Forced to Reconsider Vacation Dates Following School Calendar Change

Following weeks of heated debate, the Cobb County School Board voted Thursday evening to abandon the balanced calendar that gave students and teachers a week off in September and again in February. Many Cobb County families had Walt Disney World vacations planned for the September break as September typically has low crowd levels and value season pricing. Magical Memories Travel in Kennesaw, GA, an Authorized Disney Vacation Planner specializing in Disney vacations has this advice for Cobb families looking for alternative dates: plan now for January 2012.

The new Cobb County calendar will have students out for Holiday break from December 24, 2011 through January 10, 2012. Walt Disney World's busiest week every year is the week between Christmas and New Years but the crowds begin to clear out very quickly after New Years Day. Most of January will see very low crowds and value season pricing. With the majority of school systems planning for students to return to the classroom on January 3, 2012, the first week in January will offer the best opportunity for Cobb County families to visit Walt Disney World without crowds. Crowd level predictions beginning January 3, 2012 puts anticipated crowd levels at a 2 on a scale of 1 to 10.

Orlando weather in January is typically characterized by low humidity and minimal rainfall. The average high in January is 71 with an average low of 49. Holiday decorations and special attractions are still available during early January so families can experience attractions such as the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights at Disney's Hollywood Studios.

Disney has not yet released vacation package information for 2012 at this time but Cobb County families can reserve their vacations now to guarantee availability at the resort of their choice. Working with a Disney Vacation Specialist travel agent who will monitor their reservation for any available discounts and apply them as soon as they become available will help ensure Cobb parents receive the best possible value and pricing for their Disney World vacations.
