COBRA Premium Reductions and Unemployment Extensions Stop on March 1 Thanks to Kentucky R-Senator

One Retiring Republican Senator from Kentucky Blocks Bill to Extend COBRA and Unemployment Benefits

Aly Adair
Retiring Senator Jim Bunning, R-Kentucky, stopped a bill from passing on Friday, that would have continued the unemployment benefits extension and COBRA premium reductions for millions of Americans who lost their jobs. Americans will not receive these benefits starting Monday, March 1st, thanks to Senator Bunning. There is hope, however, since Congress can again vote on those benefits next week in the jobs bill.

Senator Bunning said he wanted his "too many" grandchildren to grow up in the same America he grew up in so we have to quit spending. Apparently Senator Bunning did not get wind of the fact that America is NOT the same as it was when he grew up. When Senator Bunning grew up, Americans worked for one company for most of their lives, and then retired with a pension. When Senator Bunning grew up, Americans could afford health care and health insurance that were not dictated by the rules of greedy health insurance companies.

Apparently Senator Bunning does not feel that helping Americans provide food on their tables and medicine to their children while out of a job, is more important than bailing out crooks at banks or enabling banks to provide millions of dollars of bonuses to their employees with our government tax dollars.

We are one of the few fortunate families in 2009 that were able to find jobs within six months of a lay off. I am willing to pay the tax bill for all other unemployed Americans who need help after a job lay off! I am willing to help create new jobs for Americans with my tax dollars. I am NOT willing to continue to bail out greedy banks. Can Congress hear that message?

IF YOU WANT TO KEEP COBRA PREMIUM REDUCTIONS AND UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS, YOU MUST WRITE OR CALL YOUR CONGRESS PERSON. Click on the article below to get a phone number and email link of the Congress person in your state to contact. Tell them YOU WANT THE JOBS BILL PASSED!

COBRA Premium Reduction Extensions Possible

I have been writing about the COBRA Premium Reductions and Unemployment extensions since February 2009 when President Obama proposed the first Stimulus Package to help ailing Americans who lost their jobs. Millions of unemployed Americans were able to keep food on their tables and take their children to the doctor because of the COBRA premium reductions and unemployment extensions.

I am one of the Americans in this statistic since my husband lost his job in March 2009 and was unemployed for six months. If it has not been for President Obama's American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA), we would not have been able to pay the $600 a month COBRA premium that was reduced to $231. We also received an additional $25 in our unemployment check to help pay our rent and utilities while job hunting.

I can only thank every American that pays taxes for helping us with these benefits. I will pay you back one day when you also need these benefits. CALL YOU CONGRESS PERSON TODAY and tell them to PASS THE JOBS BILL.

it is unbelievable that a man can be so far removed as to what is going on in this country-could be that is why he is out of office

Obviously a man who has never known hard times... at least for so long he can't remember them. Americans owe him a big dose of loathing.
