Coby Kyros Internet 10 Touchscreen Tablet - MID1024
An Affordable Android Tablet by a Manufacturer You Might Not Have Heard Of
The Coby Kyros Internet 10 Touchscreen Tablet has a 10.1" capacitive WSVGA LCD touchscreen that is capable of a 16:9 aspect ratio and 1027x600 resolution. When connected to an HDTV through the mini HDMI port it can stream content in 1080p. It features the Android 2.2 operating system, a streamlined operating system which is perfect for tablets at this price point because it achieves all of the multitasking capabilities of Android 3.1 without the burden on the processor. Speaking of processor, the Coby Kyros tablet features a 1GHz Samsung S5PV210 Cortex A8 processor. It's a processor which isn't used in any other tablets outside of Coby, though in the future it might become more popular. The tablet accesses the Internet through a Wi-Fi connection. This tablet does not have access to a 3G or 4G network so beware, if that is something you absolutely need to have in a tablet, search elsewhere.
The Coby Kyros Internet 10 Touchscreen Tablet has 4GB of internal flash memory and a microSD card slot which makes it upgradable to 32GB. This is how lower priced tablets compete with higher priced tablets. There is a front-facing camera so you can video chat with friends and family, though it comes in at only 3 megapixels which is a little lower than other tablets at this price point. When it comes to ports it has a miniHDMI port and a USB 2.0 port. There is a 3.5mm headphone jack and a built-in speaker. As for size, it's dimensions are 10.55" x .63" x 6.49". It weighs 1.5 pounds. One last technological feature to mention is that you can use the tablet horizontally or vertically because it has automatic orientation detection which will orient the screen appropriately based on how you are holding it.
With the Coby Kyros Internet 10 Touchscreen Tablet you can watch videos, play music, and view photos as well as browse the Internet and utilize apps. Apps are mainly purchased and downloaded through the AppsLib Marketplace, an app store run by Coby. As usual you can also utilize the infamous Android Market. If you want to download and read an eBook you can find them in the Aldiko E-Book app which supports the ePub format. This means that books you find online can be used on the Coby Kyros. The tablet is also able to be used as an alarm clock, calculator, e-mail host, and video gallery viewer.
The Coby Kyros Internet 10 Touchscreen Tablet comes with a USB cable to sync with your computer, a USB host/keyboard adapter if you decide to buy a full-sized keyboard, a stylus, protective case, professional stereo earphones, and a power adapter. It operates on a rechargeable lithium-polymer battery.
