Chiang of Taiwan found that neither Coke nor Pepsi affected sperm enough to be used as an effective spermicide and could not prove the claims of Umpierre's team. However, both research groups were awarded the 2008 Ig Nobel award in Chemistry this year. Both research groups had one representative attend the awards ceremony--Deborah Anderson and C.Y.
