Coca Cola Trading Cards

JR Smith
Coca Cola is a very large soda drink distribution company in the United States and internationally. Isn't it surprising that they indeed made trading cards? Rather odd don't you think? But it is true. They have made many a trading cards along with Pepsi. There's been a great variety to them as well. Once I remember there being a special Halloween promotion where National Football League stars dressed up as monsters in football uniforms and posed for their card. They've covered all the major sports and companies. National Basketball Association (NBA), National Football League (NFL), National Hockey Association (NHL), and Major League Baseball (MLB) have all graced a collectible card in one way or another.

Several companies have been involved in creating the cards as well. Companies such as Topps, Upper Deck, Fleer, among others. These are companies that traditionally make basketball, baseball, football, soccer, and other sports cards. Even non-sports such as Magic the Gathering, Pokemon and Yu Gi Oh are made by these guys and they took the time (and money of course) to make collectible Coca Cola cards.

Often times these cards will come with promotional purposes and are usually sports related. The opening game in baseball has in the past been sponsored by Coke and trading cards were created to commemorate. Another major event that usually gets a trading card line is the Olympics. It didn't happen in 2008, but many times in the past Olympic legends from all sports including gymnastics and swimming. Hopefully, they make a line for next time that way Michael Phelps can rightfully get his own card.

Coca Cola cards have been around for a really long time and surely they'll make a comeback in the future. Until then, collectors will just have to settle for past cards and buy them from other collectors .
