"Cocaine" will not be sold anymore. Redux Beverages LLC has removed all of it's unique energy drinks with the controversial name from store shelves, after receiving letters from the FDA warning them that they could face possible legal consequences for using the street drug name "Cocaine," for it's first manufactured beverage. The drink which is claimed to actually contain no drugs, quickly became popular, especially with young people. The drink which has gone head to head with popular energy drink monoliths such as Red Bull, RockStar and Monster has done extremely well in sales.

The drink has been marketed as an energy-weight loss drink and has been sold by Redux Beverages LLC which is based in Las Vegas, Nevada. Company founder, James Kirby started the company in 2006. The drink known as "Cocaine" sold in a red and white can has been on sale since August 2006. The company has vowed to change the name of the popular energy drink in the next week or so and to begin marketing the drink with it;s new name in the next few weeks. The company claims that the drink contains 280 milligrams of caffeine which makes it 350% stronger than RedBull.

The Federal Drug Administration has told the company that it objected to the company marketing the drink with enticing statements on it's containers and it's website, such as "Speed in a Can," "Liquid Cocaine," and "Cocaine-Instant Rush." The company has denied all of the charges and has agreed to work closely with the government to come to a plausible solution. blogs and websites are awash with members protesting the name change. The company has expressed the desire to maintain the unique name. The FDA had no statement claiming that the matter was still pending.

Cocaine was used in a video for the song, "Ladies and Gentlemen," by the hard rock band "Saliva." Checking on the company web-site, www.drinkcocaineshop.com the drink was still available with the name blacked out by the words, "Banned by the Man." There is clothing, including tank-tops,t-shirts with the popular logo and posters on the site along with a special product called the "Cocaine Stash Pak," which contains stickers, dog tags, clings, and tattoos.
