Cocktails for Twilight Fans

Have a Party with These Great Cocktails

Christina McWaters
Since the release of the Twilight saga, vampires, werewolves, and other supernatural creatures have become a pop culture phenomenon. Why not host a Twilight themed party and serve these great cocktails.

The Twilight Cocktail:

Ingredients:

¾ oz. crème de violette

1 ½ oz. gin

Dash of orange bitters

Dash of simple syrup

1 oz. sparkling wine

Combine crème de violette, gin, orange bitters, and simple syrup with ice in a shaker. Shake well. Pour into glass and top with sparkling wine. This drink is even sophisticated enough for Rosalie. www.yumsugar.com

The Vampire's Kiss Martini:

Ingredients:

sugar blood (see recipe below)

1½ oz. vodka

1½ oz. champagne

¾ oz. Chambord

Rim your glasses with sugar blood (see recipe below). Once cool, add vodka, and half of the Chambord into your glass. Top this with the champagne and carefully pour the remaining Chambord in so that it will float.

Sugar Blood:

Ingredients:

1 cup sugar

½ cup karo syrup

½ cup water

red food coloring

Combine sugar, syrup and water and cook without stirring to hard crack stage (300F). Slowly add the food coloring. You will want to turn down the heat, but keep the mixture hot, and dunk the glasses. Flip the glass the right way up to cool and it should drip just a bit to give that "just bitten" look. This method can be used for any glasses; but I wouldn't recommend plastic glasses, they might melt. Find this and more cocktail recipes at cocktails.about.com

The Werewolf:

Ingredients:

1 ½ oz. Drambuie

1 ½ oz. Jack Daniel's Whiskey

Simply mix and pour over ice. This howling good recipe can be found at www.barnonedrinks.com

New Moon Cocktail:

Ingredients:

1 ½ oz. triple sec

1 ½ oz. gin

½ oz. lime juice

2 oz. tonic water

Pour the triple sec, gin and lime juice into a glass with ice. Stir, then add tonic water, stir gently once more. Add a fresh lime circle to garnish. For this recipe and others your supernatural friends of the night might enjoy, check out www.drinkswap.com
