Coco Fizz Chocolate Soda, Makes Taste Buds Ask: Where's the Chocolate?

Marie Lowe
My name is Marie Lowe and I am a choc-o-holic. If the food or drink has chocolate in it, most of the time I consume it with a smile.

Chocolate cake, pie, fudge, drinks even cucumbers dipped in chocolate puddoing all have been consumed and enjoyed by my taste buds.

But this week, I tried what I believe is to be the first product that is supposed to have chocolate in it that I do not like.

It is called Coco Fizz Chocolate Soda and it is made by the Durango Soda Company in Durango, Colorado.

The company was founded in 2002 and its mission is to manufacture traditional sodas that existed many decades ago.

When I popped the cap, a chocolate aroma came bursting out of the bottle that reminded me of a Tootsie Roll.

So I tipped the bottle and took a gulp expecting something along the lines of a YooHoo, but instead I got a dose of what seemed to be a bad cold coffee with a fizz.

The drink is caffeine free and contains pure cane sugar which according to research is better than high fructose corn syrup.

Other ingredients listed include natural and artificial flavors, and phosphoric acid.

But I think the real problem lies in the fact that the drinks contains no chocolate or coco.

Maybe that is the problem my taste buds sensed.

I tried several sips and drinks of the beverage thinking that maybe it would grow on me but it just never did.

If only the makers could make the drink taste like it smells.

Appearance wise, the drink looks more like a dark ice tea rather than a chocolate drink.

However the dark glass bottle hides that fact at the time of purchase.

In conclusion my verdict on Coco Fizz is: If you are a chocolate fan, I don't think you will like this drink; If your a coffee fan, you may like this drink.

K- first thing I thought was, EEEWWWW!!! I love chocolate, but wouldn't want it fizzy. And the taste of bad cold coffee? Yuck!!! I wouldn't try this just because even the name of it sounds set up for failure on the taste buds :( Chocolate tea is good though- it's an interesting taste
