I had a chance to experience the C. O. D. Ranch during a women's retreat with my church. The peace and quiet is amazing and soothing to the soul. It has accommodations for individuals or casitas that can be shared. Several of the casitas have full kitchens, fireplaces, and front porches. All of them have lovely views.
Rates include breakfast. Other meals you are free to prepare in the kitchen of your casita or use the barbeque if you so desire. Group pricing includes three meals and refreshments.
There is a main house that can also be rented that has a large living/main room with a fireplace. This is great for a group retreat such as from a church, business, or reunions.
Now I have to say from having been there, this is a rustic type ranch, this is not a spa. If you are looking for a spa, this is not for you. But if you enjoy the outdoors and out away from the bustle of the city, then this is great.
While there make sure to go walking or hiking and absorb some of the wonderful views. There is also a pool for swimming.
The food was excellent. We had quite a variety from fajitas for dinner to egg salad, tuna salad, or curry chicken salad sandwiches for lunch. Dinner and lunch included desserts. There was a berry cobbler and a black forest cake. Breakfast was fairly traditional with eggs, sausage, bacon, two different types of cereal, yogurt, and fruit. They can accommodate food preferences if you let them know before hand.
The women in my group had different reviews on it, though none outright negative. Mostly it was little things like the bed was too soft, didn't latch the screen door tight so it banged when the wind kicked up, and so on. The chairs in the main house for the meeting room were not the most comfortable, but then again we were sitting for three hours or more at a time. There were also some sightings of scorpions, but that's often par for the course when you live in Arizona.
Overall if my church does a retreat at the Historic C. O. D Ranch again, I would definitely attend.
