This is a unique place indeed. The décor is interesting and work from local artists and Christmas lights adorn the walls. Their menu offers such drinks, like the White Zombie Coffee, which you can get with a cup of Ramen Noodles and a slice of pumpkin pie. There are some vegan friendly foods offered as well.
The music played varies from heavy metal to Billie Holiday - it really depends on what the barista chooses. There is a book exchange rack; free high speed wireless Internet and computers available for public use. T
The Neutral Grounds Coffee House - New Orleans Oldest Coffee House
Located Uptown at 5110 Danneel St. Open Sunday-Thursday
7pm-midnight Friday & Saturday 7pm-1am
This coffee house offers a simple décor, friendly staff, and the menu offers a wide range of coffees, teas and pastries. The baristas are friendly and willing to help patrons. Many colorful locals frequent the shop.
An Open Mic Night is hosted every Sunday and the rest of the week features live bands and spoken word poetry. This is a wonderful way to enjoy an artsy evening with your friends.
Café Envie is located at 1241 Decatur St. Open daily 7am-12pm
The menu coffee house offers breakfast, lunch and dinner and even some alcoholic drinks are served. Refills are available on certain drinks. This brick and mortar coffee house has high ceilings, local artwork on the walls and a simple color scheme. The baristas are personable and play good music - everything from Johnny Cash to The Cure. While this place also offers free high speed Internet, it is an excellent place to sit with a book, study or just people watch. The café is dog friendly, so feel free to take your four-legged friend with you!

Any and all of these coffee houses sound like great places to relax and hang out. It's always interesting to note the variety of people who come and go from such places.
