Coffee Shops in the Arthur/Mattoon, Illinois Area

Just Follow Your Nose

If you love a nice warm cup of coffee and you live or are visiting the Illinois area, then you are in luck. There are a variety of coffee shops that are nearby that allow you to wake up in the mornings or get refreshed at lunch time. Some of them even offer hearty homemade soups, delicious and wholesome sandwiches and fresh baked treats to satisfy that sweet tooth of yours.

If you enjoy the small town feeling, you can visit one of the only existing Amish coffee shops in Illinois (or even perhaps the United States!). Roselens Coffee Shop is located in Arthur, Illinois-the home of Amish country. It sits right next to the Dollar General Store and is just a few buildings down from Yoder's Country Kitchen. It offers Amish made goods, aromatic coffee, sandwiches, ice cream, floats and more Some of their signature drinks include the Sir Arthur which is made with white chocolate and Irish cream. For a taste to cool you off or give you a tropical feel, sip on the Hawaiian breeze which has pineapples, coconut and cookie dough. If you enjoy a cup of Chair tea, choose from flavors such as spiced, vanilla, green tea and raspberry. There is also a no sugar vanilla flavor as well. Roselens is open every day except Sunday.

Before or after you see a show at the Little Theater in Sullivan, IL, make sure you stop by for a snack, bite to eat, or just a cup of coffee at the Coffee Bean. It is on the corner in the town square in Sullivan-within steps of the Little Theater. During the summer, you can chill out hand-dipped ice cream cones or the variety of flavored smoothies that they have to offer. Some of their daily lunch specials include grown up grilled cheese with their hearty tomato Florentine soup, smoked turkey on cranberry bread, taco salad or chicken cedillas. In the mornings, be sure to taste their homemade muffins or order homemade biscuits and gravy. Relax in their cozy atmosphere on one of their couches, or meet a friend and dine at their tables while watching the flat screen televisions inside the cafe. Children's menus are available too. Customers may dine in or carry out. The Coffee Bean is open daily for breakfast and lunch. It is closed on Sundays.

When you are in Mattoon, you can stop in at the Common Grounds and immediately set your nose on the scent of mind awakening coffee. Inside is a cozy couch and chair and even books for you to browse as you sip your coffee or await your order. If you enjoy watching new talent or would like to perform yourself, Common Grounds also has open mic night every Tuesday. Live entertainment also is available on Friday nights too. Interested bands or musicians who would like to play on Fridays can submit Cd's and their information to Common Grounds for consideration. Some of the drinks that you can enjoy at Common Grounds include sspecialty frapps, cafe aù lait and steamers (steamed milk with flavored syrups). Some of the lunch classics include Caesar chicken panini, grilled chicken ranchero wrap and a chicken salad sandwich. For customers on the go in the mornings, you can also order breakfast paninis or grab one of their New York style bagels.

So should you find yourself near Amish country, checking out local festivals around the Mattoon area or watching one of the shows at the Little Theater, there is always a coffee shop for you to kick back at. Just follow the enticing aromas with your nose-coffee isn't hard to find.
