Recent studies, and some not so recent studies, have indicated that coffee may not be as harmful for our health as many once thought. Actually, some studies have suggested that java can actually be a healthy part of our diets.

Coffee may help prevent Type 2 diabetes. Of course, exercising and eating healthy should be a part of your daily routine for a healthy lifestyle and reducing the chance of developing Type 2 diabetes.

Some studies have shown that coffee drinkers show less incidences of Parkinson's Disease. Tremors are the symptom most associated with Parkinson's Disease, which most adversely affects the elderly population.

Coffee can reduce problems associated with Asthma and can even be used to treat an Asthma attack. Caffeine opens the bronchial tubes. This can positively affect someone suffering from asthma symptoms. If you have asthma, speak to your doctor about the benefits of caffeine and continue with the treatment provided by your doctor. Do not use caffeine as a replacement for your asthma medication, especially not during an asthma attack. However, if you do not have medication for whatever reason, strong coffee may help you until you until you get your medication.

Can coffee be used to treat ADHD? Some people with ADHD swear by it as do many parents of children with ADHD. It is said that the caffeine in java helps some people with ADHD to pay attention and has a somewhat calming affect. However, there are parents of children with ADHD that say java and other drinks with caffeine make their child's ADHD symptoms worse. Adults with ADHD may find it beneficial to try a cup of coffee in the morning and see if they notice any benefit.

Coffee helps alleviate depression symptoms. Java raises dopamine levels in the brain making us feel more energetic and also enhancing our mood. Some even believe that the consumption of java can lower rates of suicide. However, for someone who has drank java on a regular basis and then stops, depression can be a symptom of caffeine withdrawal.

Coffee may increase a female's sex drive. Being a stimulant, coffee can also increase sexual performance for both sexes.

Coffee may help to prevent cancers such as liver, colon, and breast cancer. This could be because it is rich in antioxidants. There could also be other ingredients in coffee that prevent some cancers. Other lifestyle differences of those who regularly enjoy this cup of java could also be factors.

The caffeine in coffee is an appetite suppressant. If you are on a diet, coffee can ease your hunger pangs in between meals. Some diet pills contain caffeine. If you are using caffeine to regulate your diet, be sure to eat healthy meals. A diet of coffee alone is not a healthy alternative to food. Your body needs nourishment even if you are trying to lose weight.

Since coffee makes us more alert and able to concentrate, java can be beneficial before you drive a car or while studying for a test. The short term effects of coffee can also be beneficial when taking a test. If you are drinking coffee when studying for a test, ensure you get adequate rest in between studying and taking the test. If you are tired when you take the test because you stayed up all night studying, your performance may suffer.

The caffeine in coffee has been associated with a significantly lower risk for Alzheimer's Disease for those who drink coffee on a regular basis.

Coffee may alleviate suffering from headaches to include migraines. Caffeine also expedites the absorption of pain relieving medications. Caffeine is an ingredient in some pain relieving medications that are sold over the counter such as Excedrin Migraine.

Research is still being conducted on the effects of drinking coffee. Much of the findings from studies that have already been conducted is inconclusive and needs further attention. If you believe coffee could be used to alleviate problems or as a preventative measure for some diseases, you should talk to your doctor. There are many negative effects of coffee, such as nervousness, anxiousness, and possibly an increase in heart disease. Large amounts of caffeine can even lead to death. All things should be considered when deciding whether or not to make coffee a part of your diet. This is especially true for children who are more susceptible to the effects of caffeine.
