Coke Zero V. Zero Calorie Cola

How Does the Bloom Brand Cola Compare to Coke?

April Bair
A 2 liter bottle of Coke Zero costs about $1.75 and the equivalent grocery store brand from Bloom (formerly Food Lion) is about $1.00. The question of course is how to the two products compare. Is Coke Zero worth the extra 75 cents?

We picked four people to participate in a blind taste test. They were each given a small glass of both sodas without ice. The tasters were not told what kind of soda they were tasting or what we wanted to know. The blind tasters were simply asked to take a drink of each soda and tell us what they thought.

Amazingly all of the tasters had the same opinions even though they were not present when the others tasted the two sodas.

It was a unanimous decision that after the first sip there was not much difference between the Coke Zero and the Bloom Zero Calorie Cola. After the second taste they all liked the Coke Zero better.

Everyone noted that the Coke Zero was sweeter and had a cleaner finish. People liked the sweet aroma and thought it was more satisfying.

The Bloom brand Zero Calorie Soda had a very mild after taste and the flavor was thinner. Overall it was good but compared to the Coke Zero the Bloom brand soda was a little flat with a little less flavor.

The final opinion was that Bloom's Zero Calorie Cola is completely drinkable and a good deal at under $1.oo but Coke Zero is preferred but not worth the $1.75 Bloom charges.

The Decision
