Cold and 'Floo' Hullabaloo

Felicity Floo Visits the Zoo

Shari Transue
There is no getting around it; the Swine Flu/H1N1 Flu has managed to consume our media airwaves and our lives. And now with the fall season in full swing and winter right around the corner, there is no escaping the dreaded cold and flu season. Many teachers, child care givers and parents are wondering how to keep those little ones healthy; since they like to share their germs and colds more than their toys.

E.S. Redmond has written a really interesting and rhyming tale of a little squirt named Felicity who visits the zoo one day and well...she doesn't heed the sign posted 'PLEASE DO NOT PET THE ANIMALS'. She forgets to blow her nose with a tissue, she spreads around her nasty green goo and now all the animals have come down with her nasty little 'floo'. What is the zoo keeper to do?

The book's color tone and 'hue' are a great accompaniment to the quick, quirky little rhymes. Kids will no doubt, keep close attention to the story, along with finding Felicity Floo's green sticky prints all over the pages and learning a good lesson about using tissues, covering their mouths and washing their hands.

The recommended ages for this book are 2-5, a good target and well written to suit a youngster's attention and comprehension. All in all, the book is very well written, great target age range, a good lesson on hygiene and healthy habits. So, go out and pick up your copy of Felicity Floo Visits the Zoo by E.S. Redmond, share it with your little ones and be very aware before the 'floo' gets you!
