The ice cream shop known as Cold Stone Creamery began with the dream of co-founders Donald and Susan Sutherland of Tempe, Arizona in 1988. Since that time, business boomed all over ice cream stories off the map. The couple responsible for the treats we have today went on a mission to find the best quality, flavor, consistency, and variety known to man when it came to ice cream. In a simple phrase, "They did it!" Over the course of two decades, the Sutherland's discovered the Ultimate Ice Cream Experience.

The super-supreme ice cream comes in a multitude of flavors such as chocolate, chocolate mint, coffee, peanut butter, French vanilla, sweet cream, cheesecake, cotton candy, strawberry, mint, cake batter, and even limited offers for French toast, Eggnog, and Pumpkin! The ice cream king and queen did not forget about those in need of special-diet ice cream either. There is a line especially for those who need to watch their weight and/or sugar intake.

In addition to the varieties of ice cream, which a customer can mix with any variety of other flavors to form a personal favorite, the counter area behind crystal clear glass fills with various additions such as sprinkles, gummy bears, Kit-Kat bar, Snickers, Butterfinger, Heath, Oreo, M& M's, Reeses Pieces, and white or dark chocolate chips. Other additions include yellow cake, brownies, fudge, caramel sauce, pecan pralines, pecans, macadamia, roasted or sliced almonds, graham cracker pie crust, cinnamon, whipped cream, cookie dough, peanut butter, and a huge selection of fruit add-ins that will leave one's mouth watering. The Cold Stone Creamery goes well beyond the optional cherry on top. Best of all, Stone Cold Creamery employees mix any or all of your choices together before adding it to a waffle bowl, waffle bowl dipped in chocolate, or one of the to die for TO-GO containers! The shop allows plenty of room for eating in or taking out. Children are welcome.

A wonderful way for Cold Stone Creamery to earn extra for tips and the company's various charities is if someone places a tip in the tip jar. A tip will get any customer personnel solo from the employee working behind the counter. There is some talent back there and not just in making ice cream! The employees have a wonderful knack for creating songs at a moment's notice much as they did a couple years ago when my little on won her chance to bring home the classroom mascot, Scooby. The lyrics escape in the time since the encounter but I can say every lyric rhymed and it included a note about how Scooby and the Mystery Machine Gang loved Stone Cold's Ice Cream too. This brought a montage of giggles from my little one and it earned a nice notation within the journal, which every child who had the honor of bringing Scooby home, to write down what occurred over the weekend. It is almost certain the store had a barrage of elementary children laying siege upon them the following week.

The ice cream at Stone Cold Creamer y is wonderful but there is more to the store than ice cream. There are thick, luscious milkshakes made in the similar manner as the ice cream concoctions. Better still, Cold Stone offers some of the most beautiful and delicious ice cream cakes anywhere. The store offers children's cakes with funny and modern children cartoon montages atop the ice cream-filled cake. Children do not have all the fun. Cold Stone Creamery offers birthday and special occasion cakes for adults as well; however, the most decadent cakes are those for elegant parties with such toppings as shaved chocolate, poured raspberries, and piping roses with other designs. Stone Cold makes baby shower cakes, bridal shower cakes, and others for almost any occasion one can think to bring a cake. Cold Stone Creamery even offers a petite size made for two people for the nights when the children are away and parents want to spend some quality time with each other, a great meal, and a wonderfully dessert with the best of both worlds between cake and ice cream. Each cake is special so it pays to call ahead to make reservations on the design, motif, or idea for the occasion in which the cake is meant to be a part of the menu. The employees have an excellent idea of how to suggest the best ice cream cake for the occasion. Take their knowledge to heart since they have a world of information regarding any design for any type of party from family, intimate, casual, to formal.

These are as addicting as creating personal creations from the multitude of flavors with add-ins available. Signature flavors such as Chocolate Devotion, Coffee Lovers Only, Shock-a-Cone, and Rocky Off-Road are but a few of the signature take-home quarts to choose. In the same manner as the single serving ice creams, there are simply far too many signature designer flavors for one not to find something they love. Personally, most love to make various mixtures based on their mood or craving. Often somewhere along the line one of those various mixtures becomes a favorite.

My personal favorite: Sweet Cream, Cheesecake, Whipped Topping, Caramel sauce, and baked yellow cake combined in a sinful pleasure. On occasion, I will opt for Coffee ice cream instead but my absolute favorite above came from many trips to Cold Stone Creamery tasting various mixes until finding the perfect personalized ice cream treat for me.
