Ice cream may be the ultimate comfort food. Still, what can be more comforting than making a wish come true for a child facing a life-threatening illness or medical condition?

On Thursday, September 24th, Cold Stone Creamery stores and the Make-a-Wish Foundation of America are dishing up an opportunity for ice cream lovers to do both.

The World's Largest Ice Cream Social

This fall, for the eighth year in a row, ice cream purveyors Cold Stone Creamery has teamed up with the Make-a-Wish Foundation of America for the World's Largest Ice Cream Social.

On Thursday, September 24th (from 5 p.m.to 8 p.m.) ice cream-loving guests who visit any Cold Stone Creamery in the United States, Guam or Puerto Rico will be invited to donate to the Make-a-Wish Foundation. Those customers who choose to participate in the fund raiser will receive free Make-a-Wish Creation ice cream sundaes from Cold Stone Creamery.

The free three-ounce sundaes will be Jack's CreationR, an ice cream concoction created by a five-year-old Make-a-Wish Foundation child. Jack worked with Cold Stone Creamery Tastemaster Ray Karam to develop an ice cream sundae containing ice cream, brownies, caramel and sprinkles.

The free ice cream sundaes will be available (one to a customer) only during the designated time period on Thursday, September 24th, while supplies last at individual store locations. Cold Stone Creamery offers no substitutions.

"Ice Cream and children are a simple combination," said Dan Beem, president of Cold Stone Creamery. "Throw in community support, and now we have a magical experience. We are proud to have all of our Cold Stone stores nationwide coming together to serve ice cream to benefit this great cause year after year."

Young Jack will meet Cold Stone Creamery customers at the company's flagship store, located in New York's Times Square, on Thursday, September 24th, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

A Month-Long Program

Throughout the month of September, Cold Stone Creamery stores are selling paper wish stars for $1. The proceeds will benefit the Make-a-Wish Foundation and local chapters across the United States. Star purchasers may customize the stars as desired. The paper wish stars will be displayed in Cold Stone Creamery stores.

Cold Stone Creamery, a division of Kahala Corporation, of Scottsdale, Arizona, has nearly 1,500 store locations worldwide. Cold Stone Creamery is known for offering ice cream served with customer-selected mix-ins, which are blended upon request on chilled gravel stones.

Since 2002, Cold Stone Creamery has helped to bring in $3.2 million in donations to the Make-a-Wish Foundation.
