When snow adds up on your car, it can later freeze. If the ice is on the windshield this can be difficult to deal with. The problem for this is because the wipers can freeze, and the cleaning solution designed to clean the windshield can freeze.
Sometimes it is unavoidable to have your car outside in the ice and snow. However, the best way to counter this is to put the car or truck inside in a garage or in some other parking spot where it is away from the elements. When you live in a cold weather climate ice and snow will happen.
When it does and you need to clean your car you need to buy yourself some sort of a brush. Often times these brushes have ice scrappers on them as well. This is good for removing snow and getting rid of ice on the windows. Sometimes, this is not enough.
If the 2 holes on your hood or near the bottom of the windshield on the outside of the car or frozen this can create problems. Further problems can be created when the windshield wipers are frozen. The best way to do something about this is to go inside and boil some water. Then place this water in a pot or a large cup and bring it outside. Next you will want to pour this water over anything that may be frozen on the windshield. I would recommend that you do this a few times (it really depends on the size of your container with the hot water). You could also microwave the water to make it warmer as well. Usually tap water will not be quite as hot as you would like.
You should also add antifreeze solution to your car. You will need this cleaning solution in the winter. Normal cleaning solution will freeze when it gets too cold. You want to have this solution handy for when the salt and dirt gets on your windshield. If this happens you will not be able to see out of it and this can create terrible problems for yourself and others on the road.
Other cold water tips for driving include making sure that your gas is filled high enough. It is best to not let your tank get less than half full or it could possibly freeze. You should also wear warm clothes and keep a blanket in your car.
