Cold Weather Golf Balls : Wilson Staff Fifty

The Best Golf Balls to Beat the Winter Cold!

MikeBabjak
While there is not much going on at the course this time of year, there will be the occasional "warm" day of about 35* which will bring a couple die hard golfers out to challenge the course and the elements. The wind is blowing, you have so many cloths on underneath your rain suit that you can barley make a swing worth hitting a golf shot with, but there you are, out in the cold because you need to play! Well, while you cant control the weather, or the fact that unless you want to catch pneumonia, you need to dress for the weather so here is one thing that can help you get though the round. (or however many holes you can stand to play!)

The Wilson Staff Fifty. This, yes you guessed it, 50 compression golf ball is perfect for not only Seniors and Women during the Summer months, but is an excellent cold weather ball! The compression alone makes this ball travel yards further in these types of conditions than your typical ball which will have a hard time handling the extreme temperatures. Most importantly, this ball feels like a marshmallow! I had a few to test over the later part of this season and let me tell you, when you hit a solid iron shot with these balls you think you missed it! The feel on the greens is great also, it takes a little bit of practice before the round to get used to the softness on the greens, but once you do its just like putting another golf ball.

The distance you can hit these balls is actually very surprising for how soft they are. The stronger players may want to stay away as the will compress too much for their powerful swings, but for your average player and those with slower swing speeds these balls are great! I lost a couple yards with each club, but thats it. Especially since I am recommending these balls for Winter play, the benefits of this ball far out weight a couple of yards! They also have a great feel around the green and off the wedges. These balls, while they do not spin much, seem to hit and stop where they land from the fairway, and have just enough bite to be controllable and predictable from around the greens.

Overall, this is a great ball, and for those fighting the cold this Winter, I would pick up a dozen or two, they are under $20 per box and are very durable. Give them a try this Winter season!
