Coldplay Offers Live Concert Album for Free

Another Band Jumps on the Freebie Train

Coldplay, the British soft-rockers behind such hits as "Yellow", "The Scientist", and most recently "Viva La Vida", have jumped onto the freebie bandwagon by offering up a live concert album, LeftRightLeftRightLeft, free of charge on their website and at concert venues. The album features 9 tracks, including the band's major singles "Clocks" and "Fix You" and newer material such as "Strawberry Swings" and "Death and All His Friends", that capture Chris Martin & Co. at the top of their game.

The album also features more obscure tracks like "42", "Glass of Water", and "Death And All His Friends". The song "Death Will Never Conquer" is also included; it was a product of the Viva La Vida recording sessions, though it was left off the eventual album. The track was featured as a B-side to "Viva La Vida" with Chris Martin on vocals; the live version of the song, however, sees the band's drummer Will Champion taking a rare place behind the microphone.

The band has stated that the album will be up for download until their last summer concert stop, which is currently slated to be September 19 at London's Wembley Stadium.

The Viva La Vida Tour makes stops in cities across both North America and Europe, including San Francisco, Dallas, Dublin, Vancouver, Stockholm, Barcelona, and Paris. A wide range of musical acts, from the established to the up-and-comers, are providing support throughout the tour; these include rap mogul and Beyonce-hubby Jay-Z, British post-punkers White Lies, pop sensation Girls Aloud, indie darling Bat for Lashes, and alternative gods The Flaming Lips.
