Colgate Motion Battery Operated Toothbrush Review

Jennifer Burss
Dental care is important to the health of people of all ages. The myriad of toothbrushes, toothpastes, flosses, and the like can make it difficult to find products truly worth the money. I have been told by my dentist for many years that I should use an electric toothbrush due to some problems I have with dexterity; unfortunately because of the price of many electric toothbrushes, I have always just stuck with a normal brush.

Most battery-operated toothbrushes don't cost as much as regular electric toothbrushes but they don't last very long. I have tried other battery operated toothbrushes before and they tend to lose steam after a few weeks. In some cases even days were the length of their use.

Recently, at my local Target store I found the Colgate Motion, a battery operated toothbrush from the same makers of the toothpaste. This toothbrush came in a twin pack for $6.99. I was a bit skeptical as battery-operated brushes had disappointed me in the past.

The Motion requires two triple A batteries that are fairly easy to change. They are held in the bottom of the brush at the end of the handle. They can be removed by pulling the end piece away from the rest of the brush. This brush has a large handle that is easy to grab and hold even when the brush is wet.

The brush is very much like the polisher many dentists use. Be warned, it can be a bit rough on your mouth after the first few times using it. Very little force is required when using this product, gently guiding it around the mouth for about five to six minutes will most likely be all that is need to get all areas inside the mouth clean. It is also best to have the brush inside your mouth before starting to avoid a large mess. The smile resulting in the use of this product is whiter and shinier smile than before I started using it six weeks ago.

The design of this brush is very simple. The only buttons on this brush are ones to turn it on and off. It also has a smaller brush above the main spinning one to get hard to reach places. This brush gives the mouth an extraordinary cleaning, very similar to that which you receive at a dentist's office.

In all, I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a new toothbrush, especially a new electric toothbrush. The cost of this item is a significantly less than that of electric toothbrushes on the market today and the Colgate Motion cleans better than a manual brush, which can cost around the same amount of money as one of the brushes in this twin-pack.
