Colgate Sparkling White Mint Zing with Baking Soda and Peroxide

Amy Witthohn
I am always on the lookout for a toothpaste that whitens teeth and tastes great. I was in the store a couple days ago and saw a new whiting toothpaste. I used to be a smoker so I am not in the process of trying different products to whiten up my teeth. I don't know how long the product has been available on the market, but It was new to me. The biggest plus was it came with a free toothbrush, And we all love getting free stuff.

When I get the package home, I open it, and the tube is very colorful and inviting. The phrase " Sparkling White Mint Zing" really stand out. I notice the familiar checklist of positive attributes- whitens teeth, removes stains, helps prevent stain buildup, fights cavities, and invigorates mouth. So these are the things that I am looking for in a good toothpaste.

So now I am ready to give this new toothpaste a whirl. I open my brand spanking new purple medium bristled toothbrush ( my free one)

After brushing and rinsing, I ran my tongue over my teeth and they felt clean, but the taste of the toothpaste left my mouth pretty quickly. Now my teeth were clean, but my breath did not have that popping fresh feel that I love in a good strong toothpaste.

I still wanted to test the whiteness factor, I wanted to use it for 7 days and see if the small brown smokers stain on my tooth, would lighten up at all with this toothpaste. So its seven days later and stain is still the same color.

Bottom line using this toothpaste teeth do feel and look clean, and thats about it. There is no extra pizazz. The breath freshness lasts no time at all, and if you are looking for a good whitening toothpaste this is not one I would recommend. Don't waste your money with this one if you are looking for more than clean teeth., and then I flip the cap of my toothpaste. Squeezing out a good sized amount on my toothbrush, The color of the toothpaste surprised me. I had expected it to be green because of the "mint" in the flavor, but it was a light blue color. The smell was nice and strong, and it looked more gritty in texture not like gel at all. Which I am a big fan of non- gel toothpaste, my teeth feel smoother with other pastes. So I started brushing, the pleasing taste of mint filled my mouth right away, and I did not get that baking soda taste that I was expecting. Thats good for me, I have never been a big fan of baking soda tasting anything.
