College Fair and Admissions: Online Event
CollegeWeekLive, founded in 2007, is the world's largest college fair and admissions website. They host several events annually; however, November is reserved for their marquee event, CollegeLiveWeek FALL. Participants have the ability to observe and interact with personnel and students from many higher education institutions. Last year over 25,000 students participated; that number is expected to grow this year.
Event Information
Partakers in this college fair can see live video presentations from more than 1,000 admissions experts. They can chat in real time with representatives from hundreds of colleges and universities, including Ivy League schools, and public and private universities. Information on preparing for the SATs, paying for college, obtaining financial aid, and earning scholarships from the participating colleges will be available. A list of contributing colleges and universities is available on the CollegeWeekLive website. Each university will have a virtual booth, and many will have keynote sessions.
Campus life will be depicted, as current college students-from their dorm rooms-share information, advice, and tips regarding student life and the reasons they picked their particular universities. There will also be live presentations on topics pertinent to admissions, such as writing a college essay application and choosing a school. Attendees can text questions to the experts and will receive immediate answers.
Registration Information
CollegeWeekLive FALL takes place on Wednesday and Thursday, November 3rd and 4th, 2010. The event is open daily from 9am to 10pm ET and offers a full schedule of 150 hours of live video presentations and live chats for attendees to select from at their convenience. Potential participants must register, but they can do so anytime, including the day of the event, at the CollegeWeekLive website. You will be asked to provide your name, address, phone number, and email address. You can also view examples of what to expect at the college fair and can take virtual tours. Registrants who log in and attend the fair will be eligible to win a $10,000 scholarship.
A new, separate event, CollegeWeekLive's International Day, is scheduled for Tuesday, December 14th. The latter is designed to cater to the needs of non-United States citizens who plan to attend an American college or university.
