College Football Birthday Banner

If you are looking for unique birthday party decorations for the college football fanatic in your life, consider this unique and fun college football birthday banner! This project requires absolutely no sewing, making it a great option for beginning crafters.

For this project, you will need:

- A couple yards of college football themed fabric in a team of your choice (available at local fabric stores and craft stores)
- A couple yards of cotton fabric in a coordinating solid color
- Black cotton fabric
- Three inch tall lettering stencils
- Fabric marking pen
- Five inch circle shaped stencil
- Four inch circle shaped stencil
- Fabric scissors
- One inch wide satin ribbon in a coordinating color
- Krylon Spray Adhesive
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks
- Newsprint and/or a large drop cloth

Cover the space you will be crafting this college birthday banner at with several sheets of old newsprint and/or a large drop cloth. Place the college football themed fabric face down on the work area. Using a fabric marking pen and a five inch circle shaped stencil, create fourteen different circles onto the back of the fabric. Carefully cut out all of the circles using fabric scissors.

Place a few yards of cotton fabric in a coordinating solid color flat on the work area. With the fabric marking pen and the appropriate stencil, trace fourteen four inch circles directly onto the fabric. Cut out the smaller circles using a pair of fabric scissors.

Lay out the black cotton fabric. Using a fabric marking pen and stencils, trace the letters to spell "Happy Birthday" onto the fabric. Carefully cut out each letter individually from the fabric. Spray the back of each letter with a solid coat of Krylon Spray Adhesive. Adhere one letter to the center of each solid color circle. You should have one extra circle left over.

Spray the solid colored circle and letter pieces with additional Krylon Spray Adhesive. Adhere one circle to the center of each college football themed fabric circle. Again, you should have one leftover circle. Spray the back of the solid colored leftover circle and adhere it to the center of the leftover college football print circle. Let the glue dry fully.

Heat up the hot glue gun. Cut several three inch pieces of one inch wide satin ribbon in a coordinating color. String the letters together by applying glue to one end of the ribbon, attaching one circle, and adhering the next circle to the opposite end of the ribbon. Continue this process until all fourteen of the circles are strung together, spelling "Happy Birthday". (The unlettered circle should be the space between the two words.) Let the glue cool fully before hanging your college football birthday banner.
