College Football Bowl Schedule 2010 Enters 2011

The college football bowl schedule 2010 is technically over. Now the college football bowl schedule 2010 is into 2011, as the most important games on the docket lay ahead. Today holds a whopping six games on tap, making it the most crowded day of the postseason. Of course, New Years Day used to be the last one of the season, but it is far from the case these days. Nevertheless, the college football bowl schedule 2010 enters 2011 with some very big showdowns.

The newest New Years Day even is the TicketCity in Dallas at noon, which gives Texas Tech a quasi home game against Northwestern. Last year at this time, Northwestern fell in a thriller to Auburn in the Outback - which helped fuel Auburn to biggest things this year.

This year's Outback is among the most notable on the college football bowl schedule 2011. Everyone knows that the Florida-Penn State battle will be Urban Meyer's last, at least as coach of the Gators. However, although Joe Paterno insists this won't be his last game, fans will still wonder if it might be down the line.

While the Outback is held at 1 pm on ESPN, the Capital One airs at the same time on ABC. It also has a high profile showdown, and one between better teams. Michigan State was the odd program out in the three-way Big Ten tie, and now they get to prove their worth against Alabama, which is coming off their infamous blown lead in the Iron Bowl.

The last non BCS-game on the college football bowl schedule 2011 today is the Gator, between Michigan and Mississippi State at 1:30. Denard Robinson will get a New Years showcase, although some of the Wolverines fans hope it is the last one for Rich Rodriguez as their coach.

At 4:30 pm on ESPN, the BCS will finally unveil itself in action, with a doubleheader out West. It all kicks off with the Rose Bowl, which has one of its more unique matchups ever. Wisconsin is there to represent the Big Ten, yet TCU is meeting them on behalf of all the mid-majors. Smaller teams have broken through in the BCS before, but this is their first crack at the Granddaddy Of Them All.

This may be the most anticipated game on the college football bowl schedule 2011, other than Oregon vs Auburn. Yet after that, the least anticipated BCS game will be held in Glendale, as Oklahoma takes on Connecticut in the Fiesta. Pundits have spent weeks trashing Connecticut and the Big East, since they are sending a four loss team against a Big 12 champion - albeit one with bad luck in the Fiesta.

The New Years Day docket may not be as important as it used to be. However, it is still the busiest day on the college football bowl schedule, and may be the most revealing to date. Fans hope to be thrilled through all of it, as they watch the action on ESPN, ESPN 2, ABC and ESPN U.
