College Football Predictions, Best Bets for Week 3

Wordsleuth
Not such a good weekend last weekend for picking. This is bound to happen and all you can do is try to bounce back. That is what I am looking to do this weekend with 12 picks for this week. Here are the picks:

West Virginia -16.5 over MARYLAND

West Virginia looked slow last Saturday until the second-half of the game against Marshall. WVU really wears teams down and they make their move in the second half. Maryland is just not in the position to stop the West Virginia spread offense and they will lose by three touchdowns.

Texas Christian -8 over AIR FORCE

TCU will look to avenge last Saturday's loss to Texas at Air Force. The Horned Frogs were dominating the game against Texas until the second-half. Air Force should be no match for the Horned Frogs and they should take no mercy on the Falcons.

Oklahoma State -10 over TROY

Oklahoma State can score and Troy can't stop them. The only concern is that Oklahoma State will give up too many points. I don't see that happening and Oklahoma State should run away with this game.

VANDERBILT -5 over Mississippi

Mississippi has looked downright awful and now they have to take on Vanderbilt. I know Vanderbilt is not that great themselves, but this is a situation where the home team should win by a touchdown.

Cincinnati -9 over Miami (OH)

Cincinnati looked very good last week against Oregon State. OSU was not a bad team coming into Cincinnati but the Bearcats dismantled them with ease. Miami (OH) should be no match for these Bearcats as they get geared up for the Big East season.

Notre Dame +8 over MICHIGAN

This game is a tough call but I think that the Irish will find a way to keep it close. Claussen looked pretty good last week and the Irish have fallen to much tougher opponents that Michigan. I don't see the Irish losing by more than a touchdown.

OKLAHOMA -46 over Utah State

Oklahoma looked very impressive last week against Miami. This week Oklahoma will welcome Utah State into Sooner country. If Oklahoma can beat Miami by such a wide margin it stands to reason that they should be able to beat an Aggie team that has no business being on the same field as them.

Ohio State -4 over WASHINGTON

Washington should be a very surprising team this season but this will be one of their biggest tests. Washington has beaten Syracuse and Boise State so far this season, but neither can be seen as powers this season. Ohio State should be able to keep Washington out of the end zone and they should force turnovers from Washington's freshman quarterback Locker. Look for Ohio State to win by more than a touchdown.

Texas -19 over CENTRAL FLORIDA

Texas looked very good in the second-half against TCU but they looked awful in the first-half. If Texas plays like they can play they should have no problem with UCF. UCF's marquee win this season is against NC State, hardly the caliber of Texas. The Longhorns will run away with this one.

Southern Mississippi pk over EAST CAROLINA

This will actually be one of the best games of the week for college football. UCF and Southern Miss will play for what could be a spot in the Conference-USA title game when it gets to that point. This will be a hard-fought game, but Southern Miss has what it takes to pull out the win.

Texas Tech -28 over Rice

Rice looked awful last week against Baylor so why should that change against Texas Tech? Baylor scored a ton of points off of Rice's defense and Baylor is hardly an offensive team. Texas Tech is an offensive team and they will rack up the points against the Owls.

USC -10.5 over NEBRASKA

USC will be well rested for their trip to Nebraska this weekend. Nebraska played a physically and emotionally draining game away against Wake Forest. Nebraska did not look like a team that can challenge USC on when they were playing Wake, so look for them to lose by a large margin. Nebraska's quarterback should throw a few interceptions.

Boston College gets their butts handed to them as a highly explosive Georgia Tech dreadnought has it's way in the deep south....BC's offensive line is smaller and slower this year, not much of a running game forces QB Ryan to throw 50+ passes again...Georgia Tech romps!!

I'm thinking Florida will turn out to be one of the more overrated teams this year, as Tennessee will prove this weekend. Of course, that could just be personal bias speaking :)

GT-BC will be one of the best games nobody's talking about; I'll admit I am also looking forward to USC-NEB. Should be a great weekend!

Penn State (-34) will cover against Buffalo. There's no way the Bulls score more than a touchdown and the Nits are going well over 40.

Florida hasn't been challenegd yet and Tennessee has played two tough games. I think they are prepared and that it being a rivalry game Tennessee should be able to kep the game within a touchdown. Tennessee +7.5.

My only concerns are the following: Will my alma mater, NC State win ANY games this year, and if so, will we beat UNC?

what do you think of the Florida- Tennessee Game? I think Tennessee
