College Football Themed Charger Plates

Dress up your game day party with these fun college football themed charger plates! This is the ultimate fan's perfect table addition and only takes a few hours to create.

For this project, you will need (per charger plate):

- One ten inch clear glass charger plate (available at craft supply stores)
- Mild dish detergent
- Water
- Paper towels
- College football themed scrapbook paper in a team of your choice (available at craft supply and scrapbook supply stores)
- Ruler
- Pencil
- Craft knife
- Self healing mat
- Sponge brush
- Mod Podge or other type of decoupage medium
- Craft roller
- Krylon Indoor Outdoor Paint in a coordinating color
- Newsprint and/or a large sized drop cloth

Before you start this project, cover the space you will be working at with sheets of old newsprint and/or a large sized drop cloth. Carefully wash the ten inch clear glass charger plate using a mild dish detergent. Rinse well and dry both sides of the plate with paper towels. Let the glass plate finish air drying while you continue on with other steps in the project.

Place the sheet of college football themed scrapbook paper in the team of your choice onto the self healing mat. Using a ruler and a pencil, create one inch strips on the paper. Cut out the strips using a craft knife.

Turn the glass charger plate face down on the work area. Apply a thick amount of Mod Podge or other decoupage medium to the print side of one college football themed paper strip. Adhere the strip print side down on the bottom of the charger plate. Smooth the paper with a small craft roller. Wipe away any excess glue from the paper and charge plate using a damp paper towel. Repeat this process until the entire underside of the glass charger plate is covered with college football print scrapbook paper. Let the glue dry completely.

Spray the bottom of the plate with seven or eight thick coats of Krylon Indoor Outdoor Paint in a coordinating color. Allow the paint to dry completely. Enjoy your new college football themed charger plate creation!

TIP: These fun charger plates are hand wash only when finished. Create several for an entire set, or singularly to hold tailgating goodies such as cookies or cupcakes. Also, this project can be done with any sports themed scrapbook paper so create one for each of your favorite teams!
