College Review: Palo Alto Junior College in San Antonio, Texas

Junior colleges are an excellent way to earn a degree or to receive credits that will transfer over to a four year college or university. A junior college known as Palo Alto is an excellent example of this, and it is located in San Antonio, Texas. In this article, I will review Palo Alto junior college.

General information.

Palo Alto first started its operations in 1985, and it is located on one hundred and twenty six acres of land. It isn't a very large campus, but it definitely has everything that you will need. There's a cafeteria, library, knowledgeable professors, a pool; etc. About a dozen buildings make up Palo Alto, and it's always growing. The best part about this college is the fact that the credits you earn can be transferred to other colleges or universities. It's an affordable way to pay for college if you are low on money.

What is taught.

There are many different subjects that are taught at Palo Alto. You have your standard algebra, sociology, psychology, art history, and other types of classes. And this college also offers associate degrees and certificates. So you can always take a few years and earn an associate degree, and then head off to a four year college if you like. Or don't earn a degree and just receive college credit at a much more affordable price. You can then transfer to your dream college or university at a later date. It's your call.

Atmosphere.

The social climate at Palo Alto is similar to most colleges. You have the military crowd, the artists, the occasional bookworm, and other social types. The people at this college are usually friendly and fairly open minded. As for the condition of the Palo Alto properties, they are in good shape. The computer labs work well, and there are no major problems with the buildings. There is also plenty of campus security so you don't have to worry about criminals too much.

As for parking, it can be albeit cramped occasionally. It is Texas after all, and many people drive in this state. Palo Alto is kind of in the middle of no where, which doesn't help the driving situation any. You might be able to find a bus that goes to the college, but be prepared to do a lot of driving if the bus doesn't work out. It can be extremely hard to find a parking spot up front at times, so be sure you arrive a little early if possible. You may end up walking a long way if you don't arrive at the right time.

As you can see, Palo Alto is a great college to attend if you want to transfer to another college or just earn a two year degree. If you decide to attend Palo Alto, you will see what a great place it really is. You'll also save a lot of money too.
