Everything from Gas to Snacks!

Are you looking for inexpensive gifts for college students on your list this year? Have no fear, college students are easy to buy for and pretty easy to satisfy. Most college students are relatively broke, so anything you present to them, is normally greatly appreciated.

Inexpensive and cheap gifts are easy to acquire. I surveyed 100 college students, in two different states, at different universities and compiled the top 5 "wish list" items they suggested. Here are their suggestions straight from the sources!

1. The Snack Attack Basket - My college cohorts number one request is for snack attack baskets. They all cited the fact they were snack-a-holics and the more snacks the merrier!

You can easily create a snack attack basket for under $20. Wal-Mart and Dollar General sell cute and trendy storage like baskets for around $3. You don't want to use the old school wicker basket for this gift. Go trendy! Suggested snacks were Tootsie Pops, Pop-Tarts, Lay's Potato chips (single serving bags, variety), M&M's, Reese's Cups, single serving coffee packages, and soda's. Others suggested organic type crackers and chips. The basket/storage container can be used later for storing things.

2. The Essentials Basket - Needless to say, students would rather spend money on clothes, movie tickets, etc. verses spending a lot of money on essential items. The second place suggestion was a shower caddy full of essentials, such as; toothpaste, tooth brush, laundry detergent, dryer sheets, mouthwash, Lysol, soap, shampoo, and razor blades.

The caddy should be more of a carrying type verses the type you hang over the shower head. This way the student can leave the essentials in it and tote it back and forth from their room to the showers.

3. Gas Cards - Prepaid gas cards were high on the list! If your student has a car on campus this can be a wonderful inexpensive gift. Most of your major convenience stores have a prepaid card program.

4. Store Gift Cards - I was surprised that gift cards made the top 5 suggestions, but it did. The students comments said gift cards from places such as Target or Wal-Mart would be highly appreciated and you, as the giver, can make this as inexpensive as you like.

5. Fast Food Coupons - Wendy's, Bo Jangles, Burger King all have a "food coupon book" they sell during the holiday season. Normally these are $5 books with 5, $1 coupons in each. You can Google search the area of the college and see which franchises are located close to campus. These are good nationwide so it doesn't matter where they are purchased.

Less noted suggestions were: iTunes download credits, alarm clock, rugs for their rooms, sheets, wall decorations, clothes hangers, laundry bags, and cell phone minutes.

Remember, the students have spoken! These were their top suggestions for inexpensive college students gifts! Hope this survey helps you in your gift giving quest.
