People wake up! It doesn't have to be like this. You are better than this. Don't fall for the ridiculous lines people try to tell you, "Oh, this will help you pay those bills." or "Don't worry, you can be as cool as your friends, just sign on the dotted line here, that's all it takes, and Wham! You're instantly approved." People PLEASE stop this incisive spending of imaginary money. It's a trap. And you will get trapped believe me. One card turns into 2 or 3, or maybe even 5 cards. It's addictive.
Oh, wait then reality sinks in, and your first bill arrives. And another and another. They will never go away. You know why? Because you don't have the money to pay it off. That's WHY YOU HAVE THEM! Yes, credit card companies TARGET college students because they know most of you will fall for the trap. But you need to be smart enough to say NO! Yes, it would be cool to have the newest iPod, or be the cool person with the awesome laptop, but it would be a lot more cool to say those things are actually yours. Yes, they belong to you.
I'm writing this to hopefully sway a few people from making a HUGE MISTAKE! Save your money and get the things you want. You will feel so much better about yourself and your stuff. So, please please please DON'T get a card. You know there are college students every year that end up taking their own lives because of all the debt. That is so sad. Don't be the next credit card victim. Get an education, so you can have all the things you want later in life.
Also, to anyone who is already in debt. You need to take a step back and ask yourself how you got there and then stop whatever it is. Talk to your family or someone else to get help. There is light at the end of the tunnel. It just takes time. I wrote another article on getting out of Debt that you may want to read it helps people out of debt everyday. It's called a Straight Forward Guide to Getting Out of Debt.
Anyways, I hope you will join the better half of America and say NO! Americans have around 80 billion dollars in credit card debt. Let's change that number. Starting with you!

Post a CommentHave to agree with you - my financial problems started with my first credit card in university and it took me years to get out of debt. College students should have a credit card with a $200 limit for emergencies - other than that, they don't need one.
