College Study Abroad Experiences: Is it Really Worth the Money?

The Anonymous of America
It's nothing new to see college students digging under the couch cushions looking for any extra pennies to help pay for college. When college students are having a difficult enough time paying for college, why should they even consider a study abroad venture? Well, you actually need to stop and consider the high cost of not studying abroad.

With the current state of the economy, landing a job is more difficult than ever. You've probably heard countless times that you need to make your resume work for you, and set yourself apart from everyone else. One great way of setting yourself apart from everyone else is to study abroad while you are still in college. I am in my second year of college right now, pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, with emphasis in Financial Services. So the benefits of studying abroad for me will not only be setting myself apart on my resume, but also being able to see how the financial systems work in another country. In addition to taking in all the great sights, making new friendships, and learning through a different education style than previously accustomed to, I will also have great opportunities to network with others.

You may be saying to yourself, well, this sounds like a great idea to study abroad. There's just one problem... I don't have the money to do it. You may be surprised to find out that your college likely offers some sort of financial assistance to those wishing to study abroad. The financial aid counselors at your school understand the important of a study abroad experience, and they will likely be able to tell you places that you can turn to receive additional financial aid, or student loans of some sort.
