I purchased Color Loco Blendy Pens Large Kit which includes 12 blendy pens ( 10 regular and 2 metallic), 6 fusion chambers, a detail pen and eight 8x12 hidden picture coloring pages. The fusion chambers also double as marker caps. I purchased the kit from Wal-Mart for around $10.00. Color Loco sells just the markers, kits ranging from small to grande, and other kits are availbale too. The maunfacturers suggested age is six and up. I believe that a five year old could use it so I recommend ages five and up.
They are very easy to use. Simply take two markers, insert them into a fusion chamber and position them vertically. To activate the fusion you must twist the markers in opposite directions and push down. While inside of the chamber the colors fuse together. Only the bottom marker will absorb the color. Depending on the intensity you would like hold the markers together, it's usually only about five seconds or so. The tip of the pen will have changed colors. You don't have to stop at just two colors try blending three or four to make all sorts of color creations. You must make sure the markers have enough "juice" if not they will not work. To get the full effect it is suggested that you color from side to side.
The hidden picture pages are great to use. When you color the pictures, images with magically appear before your eyes.
Overall I am very satisfied with the Color Loco Blendy Pens Large Kit. One would think that the markers would ruin after blending. This is not true. We have blended together lots of the colors. All of the colors will eventually return to their original color. I tested the yellow marker to see how well it would do. Yellow is very easy to ruin but it did well when we blended it together with the brown. The marker had no signs of the brown color.
If your kids like to color or make art I suggest trying out the Color Loco Blendy Pens. It's puts a new twist on an old favorite. I think parents will enjoy them too, I know I did!
I give it 4 out of 5 stars.
