This may not be totally accurate, but the school of psychoanalysis (well known by Sigmund Freud) do RELATE the individual's personality to his or her favourite color. Colors reveal one's likes and dislikes, mood at the moment, and hence a description of the overall psychological state, or in lay man term, the mind.

Yellow: The bright color. Reflecting the color of the sun, its role of giving light and warmth from above. Although not necessarily religious nature, this signifies a deep spiritual disposition. The stimulation that affects the intellect may be due to the color's association with the sun-the heavenly body that is above us enlightening everything.
