Colorado Activities: North Pole Theme Park in Cascade, Colorado

As a child growing up in Colorado, one of my favorite attractions was always the North Pole theme park in Cascade. My young mind and imagination led me to believe I was truly visiting the North Pole, the magical world where Santa Claus lived. From the Christmas themed shops to Santa's house and post office, the North Pole park was a haven for me and so many other children. Located at the foot of Pike's Peak, it is Christmas everyday at the North Pole theme park. This family-fun attraction is a great place to spend if you feel the need to bring a little bit of holiday cheer into your life. Whether you are a Colorado native or are just visiting and need a day trip to spend some quality time with the kids, the North Pole theme park is a must-see attraction for children and adults alike.

Setting

The theme park is designed to look like the North Pole of childrens' imaginations, complete with quaint little shops, cozy themed restaurants, Christmas themed rides and the home of Santa Claus himself. Children can meet Santa and his elves, explore the grounds, or send their letter to Santa at the North Pole post office.

Dining

There are five restaurants and kiosks at the North Pole, as well as a picnic area for families. Everything from pretzels and cotton candy to homemade fudge and hot dogs is available for order, with the menu being catered primarily to children. The kiosks are a great place to stop for a quick bite to eat while exploring the park.

Shopping

There are six separate gift shops to choose from at the North Pole, each offering a specialized assortment of novelties and gifts. The girl's and boy's shop sell gifts catered toward children, while the teepee sells Native American themed gifts. The Christmas shop sells brand name decorations, ornaments and novelties, including Precious Moments and Midwest, among others.

Rides

The North Pole theme park is home to the world's highest altitude ferris wheel, as well as a train designed to look like Santa's sleigh. The candy cane slide is a popular ride for younger children, while adventurers often race to the sky ride. There are tons of rides to choose from for children of all ages, so you will not have to worry about older children getting bored or disgruntled while visiting for a day.

Entertainment

In addition to the rides and shops, the North Pole hosts three different performance shows throughout the day. These include a magic show, a puppet show, and a Christmas show hosted by Chris Moose, a favorite character of the park.

Post Office

The post office at the park can post mark and send any letters or cards you bring. The park has an official post mark stamp that reads "North Pole," the perfect finishing touch for any Christmas cards you want to send. Children can also bring their letters to Santa to the post office, or take them to Santa himself at his house, located nearby.
