In the 1920's, the doors were first opened as a guest ranch. This was after it had served many years as a private fishing camp. In the center of the ranch is the massive spruce-log lodge. The dining room has a majestic double-sided fireplace. Inside the lodge are also a library, trading post, and a recreation room. Three sides of the lodge have a porch with rocking chairs to enjoy the mountain view.
The rainbow Trout Ranch guest cabins sit surrounded by aspen and Ponderosa pines located near the lodge. The cabins range from the cozy two-bedroom cabin to the larger three-bedroom cabins that have a living room and fireplace. Each cabin is decorated in a western theme with large porches with great views of the mountains and ranch. All the cabins have daily housekeeping.
Dining at Rainbow Trout Ranch is always a culinary delight. The chef at the ranch is a graduate of the Denver Culinary School of Arts. Almost every meal is prepared from scratch. Typical meals include steak, fresh trout, or turkey along with fresh vegetables, fruits, and salads. You will enjoy every meal whether it is in the formal dining room or a barbecue at poolside.
Among the many activities at Rainbow Trout Ranch is horseback riding. They have challenging and advanced rides for the experienced rider and gentle rides for the beginner rider. Each guest receives orientation to his or her horse and riding at the ranch. Some of the rides go high into the mountains others go through quiet green meadows.
Fishing at Rainbow Trout Ranch is top notch since the roots of the ranch started as a private fishing camp. It is known by many as the fisherman's paradise. Over a mile and a half of private fishing on the Conjeos River, which flows through the ranch, gives you, amble opportunity to catch that trophy trout you have dreamed of. Fly rods and spin-rods are available at the ranch along with fishing guides to show you great spots if desired.
There are also many great hiking trails both on and near the ranch. Behind the ranch, three peaks are great hikes. You can hike on your own or set up a guided hike. Lunches can also be packed by the kitchen to take on hikes.
