In the majestic San Juan Mountains just a few miles from the town of South Fork is a terrific resort for all your winter fun. Riverbend Resort sits at an elevation of 8300 feet, which guarantees you great snowfall. Fully equipped cabins with daily housekeeping and fireplaces for those cold winter nights make it comfortable as well as romantic.

Riverbend Resort is not just a place for people who ski there is something for everyone. There is stocked river fishing, a game room and recreation hall, hot tub and weaving studio and gallery. If you are into photography, the scenery is great. If you think you have seen the Riverbend Resort, you are probably right. It was used in the movie, " National Lampoons Vacation" filmed in 1983. It was called "Kamp Komfort" in the movie.

The Wolf Creek Ski Area is open from the first of November until Easter. The readers of Snow Country magazine rated it as having the best quality snow and being the third least crowded ski area in the Western U.S. and Canada. It is the closest ski area to Riverbend Resort. Cross-country skiers, snowshoers, and snowmobile riders have enjoyed an area that is surrounded on two sides by the National Forest.

The Wolf Creek Ski Area has six ski lifts that give you admittance to over 1600 acres of skiing and over 55 trails. The slopes are usually always uncrowded. In addition, an excellent ski school there is perfect for children and beginners.

Lodging at Riverbend Resort is fully modernized for your convenience and comfort. All the cabins have at least one bathroom and fully equipped kitchen. There is also a gas furnace as well as a fireplace. The cabin has a deck with an outdoor grill. Pets are always welcome. There is a $10.00 charge per pet, per cabin. Pets cannot be left unattended and must always be on a leash outside the cabin.

Snowmobile is very popular at Riverbend resort. There are 165 miles of designated snowmobile trails in the two million acre Rio Grande Forest. Dozens of trails are within five miles of the cabins. You can rent a snowmobile or bring your own. There is also a scenic backcountry adventure, which is guided by a professional tour guide.

If outdoors is not your thing you can relax by your fireplace in your cabin. There are games, puzzles, and books at the Game Room to enjoy back at your cabin. You also can shop at the resort gift shop or go to South Fork a few miles away and shop in one of their many unique shops. All the cabins have fully equipped kitchens to prepare your meals in, but if you want to go out South Fork also has an assortment of restaurants to select from.
