Colorful Holiday Gifts for a Unique Cook's Kitchen

T. McSpadden
It seems as though the majority of kitchen items are the standard colors; black, white, and metallic. This might be fine for most cooks but for people like me who love exciting, and unique colors the three standard choices can get a bit boring.

Until recently the only places I could find appliances for my kitchen in more 'unusual' colors was a select few online shops. Now JcPenney is offering a wide variety of small electronics and utensils in pale pink, powder blue, ruby red, and vibrant purple.

The item that caught my eye first was the 12-cup coffeemaker which looks absolutely stunning in purple. I am a coffee drinker and with the programmable timer and clock which can be set to start brewing my coffee for the next day up to 24 hours in advance I can wake up to a cup of my favorite brew without my normal early morning fumbling.

As if this weren't enough a treat a great 6.5 quart slow cooker is perfect for dishes that require a lot of room. It has three settings (low, high, and keep warm) instead of the usual two and a timer with an auto shut-off for those extra long cooking menu items.

In addition to all that the cookers' crock lifts out for easy serving (set it right on the table without cords in the way) and cleaning. In my opinion this crock pot looks best in a light blue.

Let's not forget the microwave oven that is a necessity in kitchens everywhere. The cute little .6 cubic feet microwave with the push button door is stunning in red and adorable in pink. A colorful microwave like this isn't only a great gift for a cook but also for a college student away from home.

Lastly, but certainly not least, the handy 5-pc bakewear set made my list since it had everything a baker could want (muffin pan, pie plate, loaf pan and cake pan), but it's purple color really stands out and makes baking just a little bit more fun.
