Colorful Wedding Ideas: DIY Orange Bridal Bouquet

Budget Friendly Orange Bridal Bouquets

Weddings are supposed to be wonderful and memorable, but when you are trying to do one on a budget, it can become more of a headache than a Kodak moment. Follow these simple instructions to make your own perfect orange bridal bouquet for less than $40.

For my own wedding, six years ago, I went through the same situation. I wanted the perfect wedding, but it needed to be on a very tight budget. I wanted the prettiest bridal bouquet and I wanted it my way. I did plenty of research, and there was no way I was going to get what I wanted for the price I wanted. I decided to make my own. Mine was pink and white, but looked almost identical to the one we are going to make. I decided to make it again but use orange, instead of pink, and it came out absolutely beautiful. The simple steps below will show you how to make one yourself. All of the supplies can be found at your local Michaels Craft Store, or online (see hyperlinks.)

You will need the following supplies:

1 Flower Bouquet Holder 10" ($2.99) or

1Stand Bouquet Holder Plastic & Foam ($2.99)

3 Silk Orange Standard Size Roses (Garden Bloom $5.99 each)

6 Silk White Mini Flowers bunches (Garden Shop $1.99 each)

1 Classic Traditions Hanging Pearl Spray 3mm (Modern Romance $2.99)

White Ribbon, 1" wide.

Wire cutters to trim the flower stems

After finding the right supplies, which is the hardest part of this project, I found it was very easy to assemble.

First, take your 3 orange roses and make a nice bunch, or triangle shape. Next, take 1 of the white mini flower bunches and place on the outside of one of the roses. Continue with two more for the other two roses. Once that is complete, repeat the process. Once all of the flowers are arranged around the roses, it is time to gently place a few of the white mini flowers in and around the orange roses. Since these are silk flowers, the stems are wire, so it is very simple to bend the wires to get the perfect placement. After that is done, it is time to place the beautiful Hanging Pearl Spray.

Take the Hanging Pearl spray out of its box and gently separate the strands. We will not be cutting them apart and will use the entire sprig. Once the strands are nicely separated, take the base of the sprig (depending on what style you buy, it could be a straight stem or it might have a loop at the base) and place it in the very middle of the orange bridal bouquet. You want to have it all the way down in the center so it will be secured when we attach it to the bouquet holder. Lastly, gently arrange the each strand over the flowers and have it drape over the sides.

The final step is to place your bouquet in the holder. This project is focused around the Flower Bouquet Holder 10", and not the Styrofoam holder. To use the Styrofoam holder, you will need to trim the roses and flowers and then stick them in the Styrofoam. If you do that, start in the middle and work your way out. You might need to trim the center sprig off the pearl spray to attach it to the Styrofoam.

If you are using the holder with the center hole, there are two ways of putting your new orange bridal bouquet into it. If the new bouquet bunch stem is thin enough, then slide it into the hole and push the holder all the way up. If the stem is thick, then you will need to build your bouquet one flower at a time and stick it through the holder to make sure they will all fit. It all depends on what type of flower holder you chose for your special day.

After the stems are through the hole, it is time to wrap them in the white ribbon. Depending on how you imagine your bouquet, you can start at either the base of the holder and work your way down and have pretty ribbons hanging below, or you can start at the base and work your way to the top. Either way, you want to make sure that you cover all the green of the stems with the white ribbon.

There you are, a simple and economical way of making your own orange bridal bouquet.

If you would like a larger bouquet, just double the supplies and purchase a larger bouquet holder. No matter how you make it, it will be beautiful for your special wedding day.
