ColorPic is a tool you download and install on your computer. This tool let's you grab the code for any color your mouse hovers over. The ColorPic tool works in browsers, on your desktop, in graphic programs, and anywhere else your mouse touches. The tool provides you with the hex code and decimal code for colors.
Is ColorPic Free to Use?
ColorPic is free to use. However, they ask that you sign up for their newsletter before downloading their product. If you don't care to get the newsletter, simply provide the email address you use for spam. If you do want the newsletter, provide your primary email address. You do not have to verify anything to download this program, simply sign up for the newsletter.
How Does ColorPic Help Web Designers?
Web Designers often run across colors they would like to use on a website or template they are designing. Sometimes it is quite difficult to get the code for the color. Unless you have a tool that will grab the code for you, it is near impossible to get the code. You can try to match the color as close as you can, but rarely will it turn out to be the same color. So, the ColorPic tool will let web designers grab the code for any color they want. Then they can paste the code in the graphics program they use. One click and you have your color code.
How Do I Use ColorPic?
You will first need to download the ColorPic program. You can download it from here. Once you have it downloaded, you will need to unzip it and install it onto your computer. After you have installed it, the program will open. Grabbing the color is a little tricky. Follow these steps to use the ColorPicker program.
Step 1 - Locate the color you want to get the code for.
Step 2 - Click the ColorPic box to select it.
Step 3 - Place your mouse on the color, but don't click it.
Step 4 - Press CTRL G on your keyboard.
You will now see the code in the code boxes. You can also create your own palettes. Click the New button on the ColorPic box. A box will open and ask you for a name. Enter a name for your new palette and click OK. Now you can start grabbing colors and save them in your new palette.
