Terry was a second-round draft pick to Baltimore in 2005, the 64th pick overall, but didn't start in any games as a rookie. He did play in seven games, mostly on special teams. During the 2006 season he played in all 16 games with the Ravens, starting two of those games as left tackle. He met up with his future team during the divisional playoffs that year on special teams against the Colts.
The 2007 season with Baltimore saw Terry start in nine of 13 games as right tackle, helping the team to a franchise-record 341 passes for 3,308 yards. The next season Terry started seven games with the Ravens at right tackle and played in 12 games, but missed three games due to knee injuries and one game because of a concussion. Despite the missed games, Baltimore had a successful season with Terry helping the club rush for 2,376 yards and a franchise-record 20 touchdowns. During the post season Terry played against Miami in the Wild Card Playoffs, Tennessee in the Divisional Playoffs and at Pittsburgh in the AFC Championship Game.
Terry, a restricted free agent, was placed on the injured reserve list last season and, despite previous successful seasons with the Ravens, was not given an offer by Baltimore to return. This lack of an offer made him a free agent able to sign with any NFL team and the Colts jumped on the opportunity to bring Terry into the fold.
Reaction from fans has been mixed, according to comments left on the Colts' Facebook page after the deal was announced. Some fans are hopeful Terry's game will improve even further, some are concerned about his previous injuries, and others think this will allow the Colts to focus on other positions in the draft rather than the offensive line. Only time will tell if this recent addition will improve the team overall.
The Colts announced other additions to the team for next season include guard Andy Alleman, a free agent who played for the Kansas City Chiefs in 2009, and defensive end J.D. Skolnitsky, who spent 2009 on the Washington Redskins practice squad and was waived on March 5th.
